Pico Island is home to the highest point in Portugal, with 2351 meters, and it is possible to climb it, which rewards its explorers with a breathtaking view over the central group of the archipelago.
Gruta das Torres, the longest lava tube in Europe and the Capitão, Caiado or Peixinho lakes are also examples of the extraordinary nature of the island.
The Pico Museum, which is divided by the Wine Museum, in Madalena, the Whaling Industry Museum, in São Roque do Pico, and the Whalers Museum, in Lajes do Pico, tell the history of Pico's life, and are obligatory stops in the touristic route of the Island.
